This particular style is named the "Dolly" bag, for it's small, dinky shape, and slightly vintage styling.
Here, a beautifully soft green and pale yellow tweed is accented with rich yellow leather and a dark green wool plaid lining.
The stunning, delicately shaded tweed used as the outer is a 50/50 mix of wool and silk, and, apparently, woven in only one mill in the world. The dark green plaid used as the lining is woven in Scotland from pure shetland wool, and the handles and flap closure are made from the most luxurious, butter soft Italian leather. Combine these sumptuous fabrics, and you have a bag made of the most ridiculously luxurious materials.
Measuring 7"x 11" and 4" deep at the base, the Dolly bag has a firm plastic base, and closes with a magnetic catch in the leather flap closure. The leather handles are approx. 16" long, so they have an opening of 7" from the top of the bag, to the top of the handle.
For some people, this handle opening is enough to slip over your shoulder and have the bag snug under your arm, but it was actually designed to hang nicely when carried in your hand, or, to continue the slightly vintage look, to be worn in the "crook" of your arm- over your elbow.
All my bags are entirely handmade by me in a smoke free, and pet free studio. They are double-stitched throughout, and triple stitched at any stress points. To keep their shape, they are all fully interfaced with ultra thick interfacing, and each comes packaged in its own protective cotton dust cover.
